What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

SIL helps people live as independently as possible in a home of their own, with the right support on hand.

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

Haven Community Care · Guide

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is help with everyday tasks – like personal care, cooking, cleaning and managing a routine – so that a person with disability can live in their own home, often sharing with others.

Good SIL is not about doing things for someone. It is about building skills, confidence and choice, so people decide how they want to live and who they live with.

If you think SIL might suit you or someone you care for, talk with us about your goals. Whether it is included in a plan depends on the individual, so we will start with a conversation, not a form.

This guide is general information only. For advice about your NDIS plan, contact the NDIS on 1800 800 110 or talk to our team.
